His grandmother supported him immensely in his endeavor and when he said that he needed to get a job, she told Floyd Mayweather Jr. that he should just keep on boxing. His father Floyd Sr. was also a boxer in the Welterweight division, having fought Sugar Ray Leonard and his uncles Roger and Jeff were also professionals. Roger is the current trainer of Floyd and he had also won two World Championships in his time.

Although he grew up in extreme poverty, Mayweather did not sway from his ambition and ultimately succeeded to turn it into his career. He won the Bronze Medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games in the Featherweight and this helped him gain prominence and since then, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been an unstoppable force in the world of boxing taking it by storm.
